About Me
Susanna Kester
BA(Hons), State Registered Arts Therapist, Arts Therapies Supervisor.
Qualifications:
BA(Hons) Philosophy and Literature.
PG Dip. Dramatherapy.
Advanced Certificate in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy.
Diploma in Creative Supervision.
I graduated as a Dramatherapist from The Roehampton Institute of Dramatherapy (Surrey University) twenty three years ago and have been a full time practising therapist since then.
I am eclectic in my approach towards the therapy that I facilitate. Although I have a psycho-dynamic background I have also completed formal study in systemic and family therapy approaches.
I have taught on the Roehampton MA in Dramatherapy course, and have facilitated numerous training workshops for care staff, multi disciplinary teams and fellow Arts Therapists.
In recent years I have focused on private practice, working with children and young people within schools and community settings. I have also worked within day centres, and inpatient wards within hospitals.
I have specialised in working with adults and adolescents with acute mental health problems, such as depression, suicide ideation, bipolar disorder, personality disorder, psychosis, obsessive-compulsive disorder, Asperger syndrome, drug and alcohol addiction, bulimia and anorexia.
I also work closely with students of dramatherapy, facilitating group and individual therapy sessions, and providing clinical supervision, over the past 16 years.
I am a full member of British Association of Dramatherapists, and the Health and Care Professions Council, and work strictly within the code of practice of both bodies.
